Committees

Community Service
The Committee coordinates the pro bono  and community service efforts of the AABA in the greater Cleveland area.  AABA has participated in brief advice clinics in conjunction with the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, and seeks to provide its members with more opportunities to give back to the larger community.  For more information, please contact Francis Fungsang (ffungsang@gmail.com) or Debbie Yue (dyue@gallaghersharp.com).

Professional Development/ Mentorship
The Committee plans CLEs and other opportunities for members to grow their substantive, networking and business development skills. It also supports the AABA Mentorship Program, which matches law students and attorneys each year so that law student mentees can receive advice about coursework, jobs and career decisions from attorney mentors. Students can be matched to either private sector or public interest/government attorneys. The Mentorship program helps to build a professional network that furthers the career interests of all AABA members.
For more information, please contact Hope Lu (Hope.Lu@thompsonhine.com) or Ruchi Asher (rasher@cuyahogacounty.us).

Political and Judicial
The Committee works to promote the appointment of Asian Americans to the federal and state judiciary and other governmental positions, evaluates potential candidates, and identifies and encourages Asian Americans to apply for judicial positions.  The Committee also vets and considers certain political, ethical, and civil rights issues that affect Asian Americans in the Northeast Ohio community, and proposes ways to address them.
